This Khyber boot is light weight and does run traditional Belleville boots that I've owned while in the military. They are good boots but my biggest beef is that they get hot due to excessive padding in the ankle. They definitely heat up in temps above 90 degrees. Maybe these are more of a cold weather boot. Overall, I were boot shopping again I would pick a different model.
I bought these and found out they were China made. Very disappointed. I thought the Belleville name stood for quality.
In my job as a police officer, I often have patrol duty by mt bike (yes, I know it's hard to take us seriously). But for this type of work, it's important to have a lightweight and low profile shoe or boot that you can run easily with and won't get caught in the the bike gears when peddling. The TR960s really fit the bill and look sharp. They and a very comfortable duty boot that I've put on in a long time.
This boot is very comfortable and lightweight. the insole has great arch support. I wear a size 12.5 in running shoes and ordered the size 13(M) fit like a glove. just put them on today and im sure they will increase in comfort after breaking them in for a few days.
Tactical Research has come up with a light weight boot that almost feels like a high top tennis shoe. The only draw back was the insole... Ouch.. You will need to get Dr Scholls Jell Inserts. I have tested these boots on every thing from concrete to 10" of ice and snow and they held up very well. From rock climbing to simply standing on your feet for 8+ hrs these boots rocked. I would recommend highly.
These are the best I have found after 10 years military and 6 in law enforcement. Light, flexible, breathable with speed laces and a very shoe like outsole, I am happy with these above any I have worn from 5.11, magnum, converse, or oakley. They wear similar to a light jungle boot with more support. The upper is completely flexible, you can bend it all the way over. The speed laces allow for quick on and off. The sole is comfortable on all terrain and the ladder rung cut out in the arch is another nice feature. I simply add some qood quality insoles and I can wear these all day. I am only giving them 4 stars however because they need to stich the inner liner to the boot and not use glue, during an excersize in the water I could not remove the boot as the glue had come undone and my foot was stuck in the inner lining which was coming off like a sock. I had to forcefully seperate my foot from the liner and the whole inner came out. A local shoe shop restitched in into place for me and it is good as new. Great boot.
This is by far the best boot I have purchased for work. I am on a beat patrol every night that I do work. It has some arch support to prevent foot/heel cramps (Mind you I have flat feet, no arch) and cushion on the side for ankle support. It is light weight and the bottom grip is excellent for rain and dirt so far. I can't wait for this winter to test this boot out.
